NOTES

  1. Margaret Mylrea als Christian was the widow of Edward Mylrea, sea captain, of Castle Street, Douglas
  2. Her will completely overturns the joint will she made with her husband in 1839. However the grandson to whom their "estate" was originally left was killed in 1840 in an accident at work when he was only 15 and so the family's legacy was then directed to their son, also named Edward
  3. Margaret's husband Edward was the oldest son of Edward Mylrea snrr & Dorothy Fargher als Kewley, and baptised 1767, Lonan
  4. Edward's brother Thomas was a tailor in Lonan, who later moved to Douglas and was one of the bondsmen in Margaret’s probate
  5. Children: Edward (1796), Margaret (1800), Eleanor (1803), Jane (1805), Thomas (1810-1810)
  6. Son Edward married Eleanor Curphey 1822; he was a shoemaker. They went to live in Liverpool
  7. Daughter Margaret married James Wilson 1834; this couple also went to live on Liverpool
  8. Daughter Elinor married Richard Curphey, a tailor, and they too went to live in Liverpool
  9. Daughter Jane married William Moore 1838. He was the applicant to the Courts for probate of Margaret’s will
